We’re freshening up the I105.3 playlist this week with two new additions from artists who each bring a very different flavor to modern country music: Corey Kent’s “Empty Words” and Kacey Musgraves’ “Dry Spell.”
Corey Kent – “Empty Words”
The song deals with something nearly everyone can relate to: realizing that promises don’t mean much when your actions fail to back them up. Kent looks back on a relationship damaged by promises left unfulfilled, giving the track a mix of regret, honesty and the rough-edged delivery that has become a big part of his sound.
Kacey Musgraves – “Dry Spell”
Musgraves has explained that the song grew out of spending the longest period of her adult life single. After a breakup, she found herself becoming more comfortable with being alone — and eventually turned that experience into a funny, tongue-in-cheek country song about loneliness, attraction and waiting for the right person to come along.
